Senior Pastor

Pastor Brett

Pastor Brett

became our Senior Pastor in October of 2007.  He is a graduate of Franklin University, Ashland University and Ashland Theological seminary. Pastor Brett gave his life to the Lord during his teenage years, answering a call to ministry in 1998. After completing the requirements to become a licensed professional counselor, he entered into a full-time counseling ministry. During this period of time, Pastor Brett sensed that God was developing  a pastor's heart within him and Brett answered that call by joining Maize Road Baptist Chruch as our Family Life Pastor in March of 2002. His heart is to see the community reached with the good news of Jesus Christ. He is married to Jan and they have three sons Ryan, Adam and Aryn.

Spring is just around the corner, and I for one am ready to welcome it. The sign of new growth that spring displays will soon be all around us. I recently concluded a series of messages focused on the need for spiritual growth in our lives. The series addressed the need of moving from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity. We know we face a determined enemy who is opposed to any step we take that would lead us into deeper intimacy with our creator. Knowing this, we are beginning the new discipleship study “Soul Shaping”. This seven-week study is designed to grow the spiritual disciplines in our lives that enable us to continue on the path of moving from infancy to maturity. There is a wonderful story that A. Roger Merrill tells which illustrates our need for these spiritual disciplines. There was a business consultant who decided to landscape his grounds. He hired a woman with a doctorate in horticulture who was extremely knowledgeable. Because the business consultant was very busy and traveled a lot, he kept emphasizing to her the need to create his garden in a way that would require little or no maintenance on his part. He insisted on automatic sprinklers and other laborsaving devices. Finally, she stopped and said, “There’s one thing you need to deal with before we go any further. If there’s no gardener, there’s no garden!” There are no laborsaving devices for growing a garden of spiritual virtue. Becoming a person of spiritual fruitfulness requires time, attention, and care. That is what “Soul Shaping” is all about. “Soul Shaping” will be offered on Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm beginning March 7th. I am looking forward to participating in the study, and I would encourage you to come and join us. Spring is also the time where we begin to turn our thoughts, attention, and hearts toward Easter. I will soon begin a series of messages focused on the special meaning in everyone’s lives that Easter offers. Please join me in inviting friends, co-workers, and family to these special Sunday services. God Bless You, Bro. Brett

A Special Invitation

The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whosoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. Revelation 22:17

Our goal is to share the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ with everyone. Jesus came into the world to save sinners and to restore our fellowship with God. He came to give to everyone the gift of eternal life. You can receive the gift of eternal life by believing in Jesus Christ (John 3:16). To believe in Jesus Christ means:

    • Admit that you have sinned and need forgiveness
    • Believe that Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and his resurrection gives you forgiveness and victory over death.
    • Commit your life to follow Jesus

Our church is here to assist you with your questions and to help you grow in Christ. You can e-mail me at maizeroadbaptist@yahoo.com for additional guidance and support. I encourage you to visit Maize Road Baptist Church and experience in your life the love and support of other believers.
